A Blog By Any Other Name

Those of you who are more "well seasoned", like me, may look on the word "blog" and be reminded of trolls and monsters. The word does seem more like the name of something found under a bridge. It took me a while to get comfortable with "blog" as a synonym for "online musings". So, in light of this, here is a thought following a recent trip to the Southwest:
The American Southwest may have some of the most strikingly beautiful landscapes found on our planet. The incredible vistas, the stark mesas and mountains, the varying hues of yellow, red, gray, green, and orange set against a robin's egg blue sky are breathtaking. That being said, the area is in a drought that is as bad as has been seen for more than a thousand years. I was told that if you've had a float trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon on your bucket list, you'd better go now, because it won't be long before it may not be available. A visit to Mesa Verde reminded me that we all live within nature, and that nature is NOT static. Let's try and do our best to live within the boundaries of nature so as to not find ourselves in terminal conflict with it.
